What’s New in the 2021 Ford Escape?
One of the more welcome side effects of the number of compact SUVs on the road is that carmakers don’t have the luxury of waiting on new features. That’s good news for you, since the 2021 Ford Escape is pulling out all the stops even though it was redesigned just last year.
2021 Ford Escape New Features
The changes for 2021 are headlined by the Ford Escape PHEV. It’s a plugin hybrid that offers 20 horsepower more than the gas model’s base engine, while still giving you excellent fuel economy and the ability to drive up to 37 miles without once hearing the engine.
The SE and SEL trims come to the Ford Escape Hybrid, while traffic sign recognition and active cruise control come to the Co-Pilot 360 Plus package. And when you visit your Ford dealership near Eden Prairie, ask about expanded option packages that add features like a hands-free power liftgate and improved keyless entry.
2021 Ford Escape Capacities and Capabilities
You can now add the tow package to the base gas engine, but we still suggest the 250-horsepower engine for towing. That engine and the Class II Trailer Tow Package boost towing capacity to 3,500 pounds. The towing capacity is the perfect complement to the 34 to 65 cubic feet of cargo volume, with the minimum space easily expandable thanks to a sliding second-row seat.
2021 Ford Escape Technology
We’re nowhere near done with advanced technology, since Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay®, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and dual USB ports for your devices are all standard. Here as well, packages and standalone options allow you to tack on a premium sound system, sport seats, or leather upholstery, among other great features, or you can opt for the top Titanium trim that simply includes most of the features you’d want.
2021 Ford Escape Safety Features
The Ford Escape easily notches a five-star NHTSA safety rating. An IIHS Top Safety Pick is harder to earn, but this new Ford SUV pulls it off thanks to Ford Co-Pilot360 safety tech that’s included as standard equipment.
